MLEC Announces Board Candidates

(August 2, 2016) — Incumbent Andy Porch of Waverly and John C. Tidwell of New Johnsonville have met the required qualifications to run for the Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative Board of Directors. Voting will take place in October for a date to be published later, and the successful candidate will serve a four-year term.

FCA Lower for August

August 15, 2016)  —  The Tennessee Valley Authority’s Fuel Cost Adjustment will be a little lower for electric users in August. Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative residential members using 1200 kilowatt-hours will pay nineteen cents less than they did for the same amount energy in July. Lending a Helping Hand

(July 7, 2016)  —  Eight Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative linemen are answering a call for assistance from our neighboring Cumberland Electric Membership Corporation after overnight storms created several, widespread outages. MLEC linemen on their way to help are Aaron Hinson and Greg Hudgins from Hickman County, Barry Wilson from Houston County, Randal Anderson and Neal Buck from Humphreys County, Chris Carroll and Shane Lowery from Lewis County, and Matt Lineberry from Perry County.

(June 30, 2016)  —  For the second month in a row, the Tennessee Valley Authority’s Fuel Cost Adjustment will increase. Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative residential members using 1200 kilowatt-hours will be paying $4.64 more in July than they did in June. WYT 2016 Kelley Scholarship

Hope Kelley, a senior from Lewis County High School, was awarded a $3000 scholarship in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, June 14, from the Tennessee Electric Cooperative Association.

Why planned outages?

MLEC has a planned outage set for June 26. A member inquired about some details giving us a great opportunity to share information with everyone on planned outages and why they can be beneficial to not only MLEC but also its members.

Planned Outage - Hickman Co. June 26

(June 7, 2016) —  Part of Hickman County will be without power on Sunday, June 26, from 7 a.m. until approximately 3 p.m. Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative will use this time to change out steel poles and equipment crossing the river at Turney Center to improve service reliability. Extra crews from other MLEC locations are being brought in to help keep outage time to a minimum.

Energy Price Higher in June

(May 31, 2016)  —  Electric prices are taking a significant jump in June. In fact, Meriwether Lewis Electric Cooperative residential members using 1200 kilowatt-hours will be paying $8.46 more than they did last month. The Tennessee Valley Authority’s seasonal (summer rate) and an increase to their fuel cost adjustment are the cause.  A complete rate schedule is available online.
